Quarantine National Day Fun
Mis à jour : 29 mai 2020
It goes without saying that it has been quite the interesting year.
I'm sure there are many people like me, who never thought that we'd ever experience anything like this in our lifetime. Despite the warnings received for the last few years, nothing prepared the world for the enormous effect of COVID-19 to all of our lives.
Over 100,000 people have died in the U.S. and almost 40 million people have lost their jobs. We are living in critical times and the crisis is affecting everyone in some way or another. I consider myself very lucky that I still have a job that allows me to work from home. Still times like this makes you realize how fickle life really is. Nevertheless, the one thing that I'm mostly grateful for is the good health of my family, friends and my own.
The company I work for does a really good job of keeping their employees positive and in good spirits. It does help to have great leadership - much better than the one running the country I must say. They provide us with daily wellness quotes, articles to help deal with the current situation or tips on how to better adjust working from home, as well as virtual workout videos. Anyway, I'm not writing this article to brag about my work- though I'm super grateful for everything they're doing right now. The reason I am mentioning work is because our management team also tries to keep our department in good spirits.
For instance, a few weeks ago we had a Virtual Spirit week. We celebrated each National Day for a whole week by taking selfies or pictures that represented whatever each day celebrated. We started on Monday May 4th and ended on Friday, May 8th.
I wanted to get super creative with it and had just recently started playing with Photofox App, which is very similar to Photoshop with the layer masking, though in my opinion, I think it is much easier to use on your phone than Adobe's Photoshop phone app.
Here's what I came up with everyday:
May 4th - May the Fourth be with you
I am a huge Star Wars fan. I love Princess Leia.
May 5th - Cinco de Mayo
I made a Mezcal Lavender Margarita and tried to emulate Frida's look. My boyfriend bought me the lovely dress in Tulum last year during our mini couple's vacation.
May 6th - National No Diet Day
I legit ordered Donuts that day to be delivered, but I didn't photograph them. The hand with the donuts during golden hour is actually a stock image.
May 7th - National Tourism Day
Never been to the Egypt Pyramids, but it is on my bucket list.
May 8th - National Have a Coke Day
My dog enjoyed a coke vicariously through me. Actually I wasn't really drinking a coke here. I don't drink soda and when I do drink a coke, is actually the glass bottle one made with cane sugar in Mexico.
So I enjoyed this project so much that I considered it continuing it on. Here's one I did for myself on May 11th - National Twilight Zone Day
I haven't continued on because I don't want to put that pressure on myself right now with everything going on, but I wanted to share some of the things that I've been working on creatively.
Everyone is doing family porch photos and that's great, but I like to do my own creative thing and I'm usually better at what I feel more comfortable with.
What are you working on creatively? Please feel free to post comments and links to your craft. I'd love to check it out - we need all the inspiration we can get right now.
