Exploring New Challenges
In the last 3-4 years I've began little personal projects like 365 - one picture a day; or 52 self-portraits a year (one per week) then shared it on social media channels like Instagram and Medium.
Last year I began a project that I never finished. This is the second time I’ve began a personal project that is affected by personal circumstances.
The self-portrait was a great experience and I am sorry to my audience (and myself) that I didn’t continue it to its end.
Perhaps it is something I’ve done in the past that just feels repetitive to me; self-portraits that is. If I’m not inspired enough and not in a good place emotionally, it makes it even harder to accomplish.
I need something new. I need a new creative challenge. A new learning experience. Not portraits — though I really want to photograph interesting people I meet during travels. So, after seeing some of the beautiful images and footage taken with GoPro cameras, I decided it was time to invest in one.
Lucky for me, there’s always guy in my life that knows me well and supports my dreams. For my birthday he got me a GoPro Hero 7, and I love it.
I am taking it to every place I travel now. First trip? Tulum:
What’s next? I’m not sure yet, but I have the travel bug.
I might go back to New Orleans. I might go to Montreal. I might go to Savannah, GA or Charleston, or hopefully Germany in September.
